We came across this inspirational video from last month’s TEDxToronto conference about the relationship between technology and doctors, hospitals, and patients. Dr. Joseph Cafazzo, a biomedical engineer, realizes that seven conditions: diabetes, kidney disease, high blood pressure, heart failure, lung disease, mental health, and cancer, account for 75% of all health spending. However, the fight against these terrible conditions cannot be won by just the doctors and hospitals alone. He issues a call to engineers, physicians, and entrepreneurs to invest in creating products that are simple enough to empower patients to care for themselves themselves.
We’re extremely proud that our alumni and current class are developing useful, innovative solutions to assist doctors and hospitals provide excellent, as well as empower patients to live well.
