About the role

We’re hiring an Engagement Manager to work within our strategy consulting team at Rock Health Advisory. You will lead consulting projects supporting large healthcare enterprises (health systems, health plans, pharmaceutical, tech, and retail clients) and late stage digital health startups. You will lead a wide range of projects to help clients understand specific digital health markets and trends, identify best-fit partners and M&A targets, conduct comparative deep-dives on startups and competitors, and develop cutting-edge product and growth strategies. You will also play a critical role in building team culture and camaraderie, optimizing ways of working, supporting development of thought leadership.

About you

You have 4-6 years of experience in healthcare strategy and/or consulting, a passion for digital health, and a desire to play a key role in a growing boutique consulting practice. You are eager to further develop your consulting, project and people management skills, work in an environment where you can be creative, challenge conventional thinking, and operate with an entrepreneurial mindset. You know what it takes to build a robust workplan and lead a project team, and that doing excellent work means sharing responsibility and giving support to your teammates. You engage with clients in a professional and peer-like manner, understanding their context and key challenges and building trusted relationships as a strategic advisor. You are eager for the opportunity to coach and contribute to the development of others on your team. You are resilient, value feedback as a tool for growth, and are comfortable navigating through ambiguity. You are curious asking the right questions to unearth deeper understanding and surface unique insights which also support project teams to efficiently drive towards the answer. You enjoy thinking quickly on your feet, and convey your findings clearly and confidently.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively lead project teams—including managing experienced consultants and senior consultants—to deliver on client engagements
  • Break down strategic problems, develop a path to answering them, define workstreams, and manage the process to develop consulting deliverables
  • Lead brainstorming, framework development, and insights iteration during project team problem-solving sessions, facilitating contributions of team members
  • Ensure client deliverables are clear, cohesive, and compelling—reviewing with an eye for detail and the big picture (e.g., narrative arc)
  • Provide clear and actionable feedback to project team members to encourage professional development and growth
  • Build and maintain relationships with senior-level clients during and beyond projects / engagements
  • Support client development efforts, including proposal generation
  • Participate in narrative development and oversight of digital health thought leadership publications
  • Foster an innovative and inclusive team-oriented work environment
  • Identify and drive practice management improvement initiatives related to ways of working as a team
  • Engage with the digital health ecosystem to build relationships and stay sharp on “boots on the ground” insights”
  • Collaborate with the broader Rock Health team on company-wide initiatives

Qualifications

  • 4-6 years work experience in healthcare consulting and/or strategy
  • 1-2 years experience in a management role within a professional services firm (managing projects, team, and client relationships)
  • Bachelor’s degree; emphasis in Business, Health Administration, Public Health, Technology, or Life Sciences highly desirable
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated experience executing quantitative and qualitative research
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Comfort with ambiguity and ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • High level of motivation and self-starting attitude
  • Passion for digital health innovation
  • Willingness to travel when necessary to meet client and team needs (note the role is primarily remote; however, a few planned events happen each year that you may be required to attend)

Compensation

The range for base compensation for the Engagement Manager role is $175,000 – $185,000. Engagement Managers will be eligible for bonus based on personal and company performance.
