Cancer care continuum

Some positive news for your Monday: recent digital health activity signals a shift toward cancer care that’s more individualized, consumer-directed, and continuous. Promising personalized treatments are afoot, like Moderna and Merck’s experimental mRNA melanoma vaccine—which sequences a patient’s tumor and uses algorithms to identify immune-triggering mutations—recently produced positive late-stage results. Consumer platforms are bringing multi-cancer early-detection (MCED) testing into a self-directed setting. Other developments are extending cancer surveillance beyond a single test. Bios Life recently raised $25M to build a virtual cancer surveillance clinic for survivors and people at elevated risk, using clinical, genomic, and other data to create an ongoing monitoring plan, and Tempus will acquire Personalis to make precision oncology more longitudinal. On the coordination side, Thyme Care’s new mega deal ($125M) establishes Thyme Companies, signaling ambition to address cancer care barriers beyond oncology navigation. And Cureety’s acquisition of Reimagine Care coordinates support by combining precision monitoring with patient engagement and oncology-focused care teams. Altogether, these moves reflect a future where cancer care is more patient-centered.
