Movement in MSK

It was a busy week in digital musculoskeletal (MSK) health, with raises, product launches, and an outcomes report drawing attention to innovations in MSK care. In conjunction with its $130M mega deal, digital physical therapy platform Sword Health announced a new interactive AI feature that can guide patients through virtual physical therapy (PT) sessions. The next day, Peterson Health Technology Institute (PHTI) reported that some virtual MSK solutions may be effective substitutes for in-person PT, and sometimes at lower costs. Combined with ongoing IPO speculation from Hinge Health, the digital health MSK market is limbering up. Outcomes reporting and funding momentum are paving the way for continued investor and market attention—MSK digital health solutions have raised $223M so far this year, already nearly double that of 2023’s $125M.
