Bio: Dr. Hala Borno is a medical oncologist, co-founder, and CEO of Trial Library. She is building a public benefit company dedicated to accelerating equitable clinical trial recruitment. The solution is informed by almost a decade of evidence-based strategies she has generated as a health equity and clinical trial researcher.
Org Info: Trial Library is a software and technology-enabled services company committed to improving access to cancer precision medicine through the promotion of inclusive clinical trials. We raised our seed round, led by Lux Capital, in March 2022.
What motivated you to pursue your current work?
As a practicing medical oncologist, I saw first hand how only a subset of patients with a cancer diagnosis were engaged in oncology clinical trials. Through my research, I generated evidence-based approaches to advancing equity in clinical trials. I spun out, Trial Library, a public benefit company to improve access to clinical trials.
What distinct value does your work bring to the digital health field?
As a public benefit company, we are committed to the public good. We apply an evidence-based strategy to promote diversity and inclusion in clinical trials.
How does your work impact your target end-users or stakeholders?
Our work focuses on partnering with community oncologists to promote engagement in clinical research. We provide technology-enabled navigation to patients to address social determinants of health that may lead to barriers in accessing clinical trials.
What is one exciting update or near-term opportunity that you would like to share with the digital health community?
Our navigation services launched in October 2022 and our software platform will launch in January 2023.
