Digital health friends convened in sunny (and rainy!) Los Angeles last week to discuss hot topics, unveil partnerships, and rebel yell their way through ViVE, wrapping up the winter 2024 circuit of sector conferences. Building off the energy at JPM and CES, AI use cases in healthcare were top of mind. DeepScribe teamed up with AWS to integrate their medical documentation LLMs, while the SCAN Foundation partnered with Dandelion Health to advance algorithmic equity for older adults. Other announcements focused on data interoperability and obesity care: Highmark, Epic, and Google are collaborating to improve data sharing between payers and providers, and Elevance launched a digital weight management program for employers.
Healthcare AI, data interoperability, and digital obesity care are all topics we’ve been tracking on our innovation maturity curve, and their outsized presence at ViVE suggests they’ll continue to dominate conversations in 2024. However, all three are subject to complex, intersecting factors of investment, consumer perception, and policy and regulation—so we’ll be watching to see how the conversations shift throughout the year.
