Welcome to the Series B-hive

So far, 2023 has been the year of unlabeled raises and extension rounds—but the summer's venture funding has us wondering whether the Series B is back. Over the past couple of months, Series B rounds were raised by Daybreak Health ($13M), Verifiable ($27M), Proprio Vision ($43M), Thyme Care ($60M), and Nursa ($80M). Back in H1 2022, we speculated that bigger early stage checks could lead to a crunch in subsequent raises; this recent return of the Series B illustrates how some savvy startups are responding to the market, leveraging rapid commercial growth and major enterprise partnerships to cross the Series B threshold. For the remainder of Q3, we'll be watching to see which companies make the Series B leap—and who stays in Series A (extension) land.

Will you be at HLTH this year? Don’t miss Rock Health in Las Vegas: RockHealth.org CEO Katie Drasser will hit the stage on Sunday, October 8 to discuss “The Infusion of Inclusion” with leaders from Kindbody, Oxeon, and the Government Employees Health Association.
