We heard a few great minds weigh in on the unresolved issues and lofty promises of big data recently. Wired put out not one, but two posts on the lack of clear ethical guidelines for using digital data for research. (On that note, Facebook just apologized for their emotion study.) Patient privacy champion David Vivero said using health data “requires a thoughtful approach”—but don’t “let that get in the way of getting [meaningful] information in front of consumers," echoing Donna Cryer who urged not letting "perfect be the enemy of good enough."
