Digital health’s Walk of Fame

Digital health is ready to roll out the red carpet. We’ve grown up, cracked $20B, and now, even celebrities are taking notice, with several household names recently investing in digital health companies. Justin Bieber had “Baby” on the brain and invested in digital male fertility startup Legacy, along with famous friends The Weeknd, Orlando Bloom, and DJ Khaled. Pediatric behavioral health startup Elemy closed on $219M from funders including Ashton Kutcher and Chelsea Clinton. MindMaze, a Swiss virtual reality company addressing traumatic brain injuries, raised $125M from Leonardo DiCaprio-backed AlbaCore Capital at a $1.5B valuation. Oprah Winfrey participated in Maven Clinic’s mega deal in August, joining Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling, and Natalie Portman from previous rounds. Serena Williams also got in on the action this summer with an investment in HUED, a platform that provides culturally sensitive care to Black and Latinx patients. And let’s not forget, Matthew McConaughey said “alright alright alright” to Unite Us’ social care solution earlier this spring. In our once-niche industry, we’re excited for the next season of financing from the stars.
