The results from Rock Health’s 2024 Consumer Adoption of Digital Health Survey—our tenth (!) edition—are in. More than half of Americans used virtual care in the past year (58%), own at least one wearable or connected device (53%), and track at least one health metric digitally (54%).
But beyond these topline numbers, it turns out that consumers’ digital health behaviors and preferences drastically differ by generation. Millennials lead in virtual care use and wearable adoption, while Gen Z is skeptical of traditional providers but open to AI-driven health advice. Gen Xers are pragmatic, turning to virtual care when it reduces wait times, and Boomers are all about tracking prescriptions. Meanwhile, the Silent Generation deeply trusts legacy healthcare players like providers, which is reflected in their willingness to share health data. The takeaway?
