Virtual care startups <3 M&A
It’s no secret that digital health is consolidating—in 2020, the Teladongo deal set off a virtual care platforms race. Since then, M&A continues to dominate digital health headlines, and we’ve been seeing DTC players acquiring digital health startups focused on women+ health. Last week, Thirty Madison followed suit with plans to merge with Nurx. Thirty Madison delivers consumer-friendly care under brands targeted at migraines, hair loss, and allergies. Nurx is best known as a telehealth platform that provides birth control. But will Thirty Madison + Nurx and the club of emerging platforms be able to compete with the likes of Amazon—which officially rolled out Amazon Care nationwide? Only time will tell, but in the meantime keep your eyes peeled for more consolidation as the industry continues to mature.
