FDA sets its sights on digital health

The FDA got a new head honcho (a doc most recently at NEA) and is building a digital health unit with 13 new hires from across the private sector to boost internal expertise and streamline reviews.

DC’s new IT council oddly doesn’t include HHS, an agency with one of the largest IT budgets around. The timing was especially awkward as a cyber attack crippled UK hospitals before quickly spreading to 74 countries, including the US—and to come full circle, it was made possible by a leaked NSA dossier.
