‘Twas the week before the holidays

'Twas the week before the holidays, when all through the town,
Digital health entrepreneurs were hunkering down,
Just one year after the biggest boom to date,
It’s time for a back-to-basics approach—or risk tempting fate.
The start of 2022 had some wondering, “are we in a bubble?
Now, companies lacking clinical outcomes could be in trouble.
IPOs dried upM&A rumors soared
With more moves made by Big Tech and Big Retail than ever before.
Plus don’t forget about the health plans, providers, and middle kids,
Stay tuned for where all of these players might place their bids.
The government got involved and laid down the law,
There was also a Supreme Court decision that made a mess of it all.
But the industry made strides on health equity—not a moment too soon,
And awareness increased that lived experience is a founder’s boon.
Meanwhile buzzwords and abbreviations continued to fly,
Which is your favorite—or might your organization try?
How about a SPAC (or not)? DTx? Maybe value-based care?
Perhaps AI? ML? Or even the metaverse; that one was everywhere.
No matter which flavor of jargon is preferred,
These market conditions shouldn’t let innovators be deterred.
While next year might be messy, there’s no need for undue fuss,
The potential to transform healthcare lives inside all of us.
This community has passion, and dedication, and drive,
So we at Rock Health remain confident that digital health will thrive.
Now we’re signing off—this is the last 2022 Rock Weekly you’ll see,
Happy holidays to all, and cheers to 2023!

+ We’re hosting a happy hour during JPM week—no matter the weather,
Add your name to the waitlist to kick off the new year together!
